Hotspurs OCTANE 97 Win Laval Tournament Feb 24, 2010

The Nepean Hotspurs Octane 97 girls won the gold medal February 21 in the U-13 AA division of the Ars Laval National Tournament and brought home a beautiful trophy for the Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club.

Octane entered two teams in the tournament - Red and White, with the girls on the Red team giving up only one goal in six games played, including a 2-0 win over Express de Gatineau in the final. Octane Red won 2-1 against Express de Gatineau, 1-0 against Monteuil Devils, and 3-0 against St-Leonard Lions in the round robin and 4-0 against Fabrose Amazones in the semi-final.

Members of the tournament-winning Octane Red team were Amanda Pullara, Ciera Disipio, Claudia Lepore, Jazlyn Wallace, Marisa Seary, Marie-Anne Ramage (top scorer in the tournament), Michelle Lapenskie (guest player from Kemptville Soccer Club), Miranda Heredia, Muthoni Kimani, Sabrina Molnar and Stephanie Roberts. The Red team was coached by Octane Head Coach Peter Menyasz, with help from Assistant Coach Jim Ramage and Trainer Sandra Seary.
 
The Octane White team also had a strong tournament, falling one win short of advancing to the semi-finals. Members of the Octane White team were Amelia Sharpe, Anna Munro, Annie Howell, Cassandra Yanez-Leyton, Danielle Lee, Hanna Sanders, Iona Buchanan, Jessica Briglio, Marisa Glenn (from Hotspurs Hurricanes), Olivia Piccioli (from Hotspurs Hurricanes), Sarah Peters, Scout Schooley (guest player from Carleton Place Soccer Club) and Sharon Selway (guest player from Carleton Place Soccer Club). The White team was coached by Octane Assistant Coach Marco Disipio, assisted by Manager Kelly Wallace.
Octane 97 will play in the East Region Soccer League's L3 division in the 2010 summer season.
